Anbe Sivam is a 2003 Indian Tamil language film. The film had its theatrical release in 2003 and features Ajith Kumar and Amala Paul in the lead roles, while Vivek plays a pivotal role. Anbe Sivam is the tale of two lovers 'Siva' (Ajith Kumar) and 'Parvathi' (Amala Paul). They get married and live happily without any problems or interference from Parvathi's over-controlling father who wants to see his daughter only marry someone with equal status. But soon things start going wrong, due to some misconceptions on both sides. The rest of the story deals with how things are put right between the two lovers, thereby proving that true love cannot be affected by materialistic considerations. Anbe Sivam was well received by audience and critics alike. Film critic The Hindu stated that "Ajith is reasonably good as Siva, he has also made efforts to improve his acting skills."He made its Telugu remake titled Pranam Khareedu starring Ali, Anushka Shetty. The soundtrack was composed by Mani Sharma, who composed for Ajith Kumar's previous film "Boys". Lyrics were written by Pa. Vijay and Pazhani Bharathi. Due to the overwhelming response and business of his previous film "Boys", Ajith was signed by Siva for a Tamil project. The film was titled "Anbe Sivam" in December 2002, with the director Mani Ratnam giving the title. Ajith accepted these dialogues, which were written by Kannadasan in his compositions. In April 2003, Ajith announced that he would be collaborating again with Mani Ratnam for a bilingual Tamil-Telugu version titled "Anbe Sivam" in Telugu, in addition to a Tamil version in Tamil. Mani Ratnam had initially approached Ajith in 2000 to play the lead in "Alaipayuthey" with Nagma, indicating he would like to work again with him in the future. However, these plans did not materialise for two years after principal photography was completed. Ajith had already signed on with Siva, who had worked as an assistant director to S. J. Surya on "Poove Unakkaga" (1999) and "Mudhal Mann Vasanam Iyakkam" (2001), and a film titled "Ullathai Allitha" with Prakash Raj during this period. In April 2003, Ajith had completed work for his grudge match "Billa", with the shoot lasting for a year. The delay in the release of "Anbe Sivam" was revealed to be due to the producer being arrested by the Mumbai police and subsequently some re-shooting and post-production work took place. The film had some scenes involving Ajith and Amala Paul shot at Mercara in Kerala while some action scenes were shot at Aluva, Ernakulam and Valathoor near Coimbatore. cfa1e77820
